    About this product

Blue Sea Systems Standard CableCap, small pair (black and red), for marine adapter terminals, fits 1/2/4 AWG cable. Manufacturer PN 4005.

The Blue Sea Systems Standard CableCap is built for the common setup where a marine adapter terminal has been added onto a battery's original post, giving a proper stud for a ring-terminated cable. This cap snaps over that finished connection to insulate it fully, satisfying typical ABYC insulation guidance for exposed positive battery terminals on most recreational vessels.

    Key features

    • Sold as a pair — one black, one red
    • Fits cable sizes 1, 2, and 4 AWG
    • For batteries with marine adaptor terminals added on
    • PVC construction resists corrosion and weathering in the marine environment

This is the smaller of Blue Sea's two Standard CableCap sizes, matched to lighter cable in the 1-4 AWG range — typical for smaller house or start batteries, instrument panels, or accessory circuits drawing modest current. For heavier 1/0-2/0 AWG cable, the Standard CableCap Large Pair (PN 4006) is the correct larger size to reach for instead of this one.

Confirm your battery actually has an adapter terminal added on, rather than an integral wing nut post, before ordering — the Rotating CableCap (PN 4001) is the correct part for wing-nut-style terminals, and the two cap families aren't interchangeable in fit or design. Getting the wrong style means the cap won't seat securely, defeating the point of adding it in the first place. Color-code consistently across the whole installation, using red for the positive terminal and black for negative or ground, so circuit polarity stays obvious at a glance during future service work or routine troubleshooting later on.
