About Common Ground Marine

Marine electrical, from concept to completion.

Common Ground has been in business for over 20 years in the marine electrical and industrial industries. From our shop in Newport Beach, California, we design, fabricate, assemble, and test custom panels, engine controls, and wiring harnesses, and our install division, Sparky's Marine Tech, puts them on the water.

    How we build

    Designed, fabricated, and tested in-house

We work closely with our customers to take each project from concept to completion. Our production and fabrication work starts as CAD drawings sent straight to our CNC machine, laser, and UV printer, so we can respond quickly to what you need.

Our engineering and design staff are ABYC-certified electrical technicians. We treat each new project as a unique design, tailor-made for the end user, whether it's one piece or one hundred. Customers keep coming back to us with their custom and unusual projects.

    What we build

    Panels, engine controls, and parts

    Custom panels & specialty products

Production panel makers rarely build a completely custom design. We have the engineering staff and tooling in-house to make most ideas a reality. Each project is designed, fabricated, assembled, and tested, on schedule.

    Breaker panels

Production and custom circuit breaker panels for marine AC and DC systems, built from tough G10 epoxy glass with fiber-optic backlighting, digital instrumentation, and replaceable reverse-engraved label inserts. Built to ABYC and/or UL 489 and USCG guidelines.

    Electronic engine controls

Plug-and-play systems for Caterpillar, Detroit Diesel, John Deere, Cummins, and other electronic engines, from single engine/single station to multi-engine/multi-station. We make remote station switch panels, wiring harnesses, throttle position brackets, instrument stations, and engine interface enclosures. Every one is tested.

    Stock panels

In-stock toggle, rocker switch, circuit breaker, and instrument panels for customers who need something right away.

    Parts inventory

A large inventory of marine and industrial electrical parts: Aetna, Blue Sea, Carling, Deutsch, EAO, ETA, Hewitt, Hubbell, Murphy, Newmar, Otto, Sälzer, VDO, Vimar, tinned copper wire and cable, terminals, and more. If you don't see it, ask. We may have it in stock or can order it.
