    About this product

Blue Sea Systems PowerPost Insulator, red, up to 2/0 AWG cable, 0.6in cable entry. Manufacturer PN 4004.

The Blue Sea Systems PowerPost Insulator is the red snap-on cap that ships with every single-stud PowerPost and PowerPost Plus connector, providing electrical insulation over the stud and the large cable landed on it. It's the part to order separately if an original cap is ever lost, cracked, or otherwise damaged during routine service work.

    Key features

    • Red color, up to 2/0 AWG cable capacity
    • 0.6in cable entry accommodates large ring-terminated conductors
    • Snaps over the completed stud connection to fully insulate it
    • Reinforced thermoplastic construction resists the marine environment

This insulator ships included with the PowerPost family — 1/4in, 5/16in, and 3/8in single-stud versions (PN 2001, 2002, 2003), the PowerPost Plus family (PN 2101, 2102, 2103), and the PowerBar Dual BusBar (PN 2019). If you're ordering any of those connectors new, you already have this cap included as standard equipment; this listing is specifically for a standalone replacement.

Note this workbook entry was previously catalogued under a CableCap-style stud description; the manufacturer's current listing identifies this specific part as the PowerPost Insulator rather than a general CableCap, since it's purpose-built for the PowerPost stud geometry rather than a generic terminal. Keep a spare on hand if your PowerPost connections are in a location prone to wear or accidental cap loss during routine engine maintenance, especially outboard installations that see regular tilting, trailering, and salt spray exposure over a season. A missing or cracked cap leaves the live stud exposed, which is both a shock hazard and a short-circuit risk in a wet bilge or engine compartment.
