About this product
Blue Sea Systems Dual USB Charger, 4.8A total, 12/24V DC input, 5V DC output, IP45. Manufacturer PN 1045.
The Blue Sea Systems 12/24V DC Dual USB Charger delivers up to 4.8A of total charging current across two USB ports, with intelligent device recognition that charges each connected phone, tablet, or other device at the speed it's actually designed for rather than a generic rate. It's a common retrofit anywhere a dated 12V accessory outlet no longer matches how people actually charge devices aboard.
Key features
- 4.8A DC total output, 12V/24V DC input (9-32V DC range)
- 5V DC ±5% output, intelligent device recognition
- Internal filtering reduces electronic interference
- Reverse polarity, short circuit, and thermal overload protection
- Protective dust cap, potted for the marine environment, IP45 with cover closed
This socket-mount version drops into the same common 1-1/8" hole used by a standard 12V accessory socket, making it a straightforward retrofit anywhere an old cigarette-lighter-style socket already exists — helm consoles, cabins, or a dedicated charging station. It's a common upgrade path for boats where crew and guests now show up with far more USB-charged devices than the boat's original electrical system was ever designed to handle.
Because it accepts both 12V and 24V systems without any wiring changes, it works equally well on a typical single-battery-bank boat or a 24V commercial or larger vessel, without carrying two different charger models for two different systems. If the mounting location is an existing switch panel cutout rather than a round hole, the switch-mount version (PN 1039) uses the same electronics in a rectangular Contura-style footprint instead. Both versions share the same internal charging circuitry and protection features.
