About this product
Blue Sea Systems ML-RBS Remote Battery Switch with Manual Control Auto-Release - 12V DC 500A, 500A continuous, 12V DC, Auto-Releasing coil. Manufacturer PN 7713.
The Blue Sea Systems ML-RBS Remote Battery Switch with Manual Control Auto-Release - 12V DC 500A is a magnetic latching switch built for high-amperage battery disconnection controlled from a remote location — a helm station, a switch panel, or anywhere else more convenient or accessible than the battery compartment itself.
Key features
- 500A continuous, 700A intermittent (5 min)
- 1100A cranking (30 sec)
- Auto-Releasing coil function, 12V DC control circuit
- 3/8"-16 tin-plated copper studs, 7/8in stud length accepts multiple cable terminals
- Silver alloy contacts for reliable switching of live loads under real working current
The manual override knob provides an added layer of safety, allowing control with or without power and offering a LOCKED OFF position for servicing purposes.
Because it's a magnetic latching design, it draws essentially no current while holding its position — power is only used briefly while actually changing state — which makes it a efficient choice for a circuit that needs to stay switched for long periods without draining the battery it's protecting. Unlike the Bi-Stable versions, this Auto-Release switch returns to its open (off) position automatically if control power is lost, and can be driven by either an SPST or SPDT switch — a common choice where a normally-open failsafe behavior is specifically wanted. Label recesses on the body help keep circuit identification clear at the point of installation for future reference.
Silver alloy contacts are specifically chosen for reliability when switching live loads under real working current, rather than just holding a static connection — a meaningful difference from a lower-duty relay not built for this kind of repeated, sustained high-amperage switching.
