    About this product

Veratron Sumlog Speed Transducer 270-023-001-002K is the 8–18 knots version of Veratron's paddlewheel speed-through-water sensor. Water flow rotates the paddlewheel while an internal Hall sensor produces frequency pulses that the connected Sumlog-compatible instrument interprets as vessel speed.

    Signal and electrical characteristics

This version is calibrated at 10,500 pulses/NM. The transducer operates from 8–16 VDC, draws less than 20 mA at 12 V, and provides a frequency, open-collector output. Because it measures speed through the water rather than GPS speed over ground, it can be used for performance and current analysis when combined with navigation data.

    Installation

The Sumlog family supports top- or bottom-mount installation. The installation manual specifies a 42 ±0.2 mm mounting hole. The transducer body is approximately 131 mm long and should be installed where the paddlewheel sees clean, non-aerated water flow and can rotate freely.

    Environmental

The transducer is rated IP68 and is specified for operation from -10 °C to +60 °C. Veratron provides a shared Sumlog product-information sheet, multilingual installation manual and CE declaration covering this transducer family.
