About this product
Blue Sea Systems MAXI Fuse, 80A rating, 32V DC maximum, 1000A interrupt capacity. Manufacturer PN 5143.
The Blue Sea Systems MAXI Fuse gives boat owners and marine techs an economical way to protect a 80A DC branch circuit without stepping up to a more expensive fuse family. It's built around the same MAXI blade footprint used across marine and mobile 12V/24V systems, so it drops straight into any MAXI Fuse Holder or MAXI Fuse Block already on the boat.
Key features
- 80A rating at 32V DC maximum, 1000A interrupt capacity
- Tin-plated connector blades resist corrosion in the marine environment
- Clear housing gives a visible indication when the fuse has blown
- One fuse per retail package
This fuse is a good fit anywhere a MAXI-style blade fuse is already specified — bilge pump circuits, accessory feeds, and other mid-amperage 12V/24V branch runs on boats, RVs, and other 12V/24V vehicles. It is not a stand-alone device: it must be installed in a compatible MAXI Fuse Holder or MAXI Fuse Block, which mounts the fuse and makes the wire connections.
Because it's a fast-response fuse rather than a resettable breaker, keep a spare on hand at the 80A rating so a nuisance trip from a starting motor or pump doesn't leave a circuit dead until you can get to a chandlery. The MAXI platform is widely used across 12V and 24V DC systems on boats, RVs, and specialty vehicles, so this same 80A rating works whether the circuit runs off a 12V house bank or a 24V system, as long as the load stays under the 32V DC maximum.
At the panel or junction box, match this fuse's rating to the wire gauge feeding it — the fuse should open before the wire's insulation is at risk, not after. If you're replacing an existing MAXI fuse, confirm the old fuse's printed amperage before swapping in the 80A version, since MAXI fuses across the family share the same blade footprint and will physically fit holders sized for other ratings.
