About this product
Blue Sea Systems AMG Fuse, 175A rating, 70V DC maximum, 2,500A interrupt capacity, ignition protected. Manufacturer PN 5104.
The Blue Sea Systems AMG Fuse is the most economical way to add 100-300A circuit protection to a DC system. At 175A and 70V DC maximum, this fuse is ignition protected and delivers a 2,500A interrupt rating — a step down from an ANL or Class T fuse's interrupt capacity, which is what keeps the AMG family's price point low.
Key features
- 175A rating, 70V DC maximum
- 2,500A interrupt capacity (AIC)
- Ignition protected
- Most economical option in Blue Sea's 100-300A fuse range
AMG fuses mount in a Blue Sea AMG Fuse Block, or in the AMG Safety Fuse Block (PN 7721) where an ignition-protected enclosure is required. They're a good fit for secondary or backup circuits in this amperage range where the higher interrupt capacity of an ANL or Class T fuse isn't needed.
Note for anyone cross-referencing older documentation: Blue Sea previously marketed this fuse family as "MEGA/AMG" with a 32V DC / 2,000A interrupt rating. The manufacturer's current listing has renamed the line to "AMG" and lists a higher 70V DC / 2,500A interrupt rating for this same part number — treat the current spec as authoritative for new orders.
Match the fuse's amperage to the wire gauge it protects, and keep a spare on hand at this rating since a blown AMG fuse must be replaced rather than reset.
Because the AMG family spans the full 100-300A range on one common body size, it's easy to keep a small assortment of ratings aboard for whichever branch or sub-panel circuit needs protection, without carrying spares for several different fuse families. If you're specifying new circuit protection rather than replacing an existing fuse, compare the AMG's 2,500A interrupt rating against your system's expected fault current — battery banks with very high short-circuit current, particularly lithium-ion setups, are usually better served by a Class T or ANL fuse instead.
